About us
Our mission is to help people. We provide sustainably collected and natural spruce resin (Picea abies) for pharmaceutical production and food supplies manufacturing.
Linnusilmapuu is a local business that collects spruce resin from Picea abies growing in the pure nature of Estonia. We do this manually and responsibly without damaging the spruce trees.
We use local labor, providing work for rural communities. Through our activities, we keep alive the centuries-old traditions of collecting spruce resin.
Of all Estonian forests, spruce trees (Picea abies) make up ca ¼. The importance of spruce in the Estonian economy is difficult to overestimate. This is also proven by the fact that Estonia, despite its small size, is the largest exporter of wooden houses in Europe. Most of the houses produced here are made of pine and spruce. It is also an interesting fact that one of the most common surnames in Estonia is “Kuusk” (meaning spruce). The folk culture of Estonians also has a lot of traditions related to spruce, as the spruce tree has provided shelter for travellers for centuries as well as treatment for vitamin deficiency, respiratory diseases and ulcers.
